Potential line-ups for Spain vs France

Spain (4-3-3): Unai Simón – Aymeric Laporte, Jesús Navas, Marc Cucurella, Nacho – Rodri, Fabián Ruiz, Dani Olmo – Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal, Álvaro Morata.

France (4-3-1-2): Mike Maignan – Jules Koundé, William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano, Théo Hernandez – N’Golo Kanté, Eduardo Camavinga, Aurélien Tchouaméni – Antoine Griezmann – Kylian Mbappé, Randal Kolo Muani.

Spain

In the quarter-finals, Spain managed to beat a host country team of a big tournament for the first time in their history. Spain opened the score in the beginning of the second half, but Germany equalized in the last minutes of the game. Thus, Spain failed to win within 90 minutes for the first time in this tournament. They scored in extra time, anyway. Spain have reached the quarter-finals for the 4th time in their last 5 tournaments. Spain have an unbeaten run in regular time in their 11 European Championship games (5 wins, 6 draws).

Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal will miss the game due to disqualification, while Pedri will miss the semi-final due to an injury.

  • Spain have scored the first goal in 10 out of their last 11 official games. Spain to score the first goal – 1/1
  • At least 2 goals have been scored in regular time in 8 out of the last 10 European Championship games Spain have played. Over 1.5 – 1/2
  • Spain haven’t lost in regular time their last 13 official games (11 wins and 2 draws). Spain to win or Draw – 2/5

France

France still haven’t managed to score a goal (aside from the one scored from the penalty spot), yet they’ve reached the semi-finals. In the quarter-finals, they beat Portugal on penalties (5:3) after a goalless draw. France haven’t lost in regular time their last 16 European Championship games (8 wins, 8 draws). However, they have obvious problems with scoring a goal. France have scored a maximum of 1 goal in 8 out of their last 10 European Championship games. This is going to be the 2nd time that France have reached the semi-finals in the last 6 European Championships.

  • France have ended in a draw in regular time 6 out of their last 8 European Championship games. Draw – 37/20
  • France have scored at least 1 goal in 8 out of the last 10 official head-to-head games. France Over 0.5 – 9/20
  • France have failed to score in the first half in 5 out of their last 6 European Championship games. First half: France Under 0.5 – 1/2

Spain – France Prediction

Both sides failed to win their quarter-final games in regular time. The teams left too many strengths and emotions. It’s going to be even harder now as there’s not enough time to fully recover and a pressure in bigger. The sides are unlikely to perform brightly scoring many goals. The defensive lines of theirs have proved the quality.

Spain have conceded only 2 goals (one of them was an own goal against Georgia) in this tournament. France have conceded only 1 goal, scored from the penalty spot.

A maximum of 2 goals have been scored in regular time in 9 out of the last 11 European Championship games France have played and in 5 out of the last 7 European Championship games Spain have played. And also a maximum of 2 goals have been scored in 3 out of the last 4 official head-to-head games between the sides.

Our prediction is Under 2.5 at 1/2 .

Betting tips 9 July 2024

After defeating Georgia (4:1) in the Round of 16, Spain didn't look as confident in the quarter-finals. After 90 minutes of regular time, the Spanish side created only 0.46 xG. After Olmo, who came on as a substitute at the start of the game for the injured Pedri, opened the score in the 51st minute, Spain retreated and tried to hold on to their minimal advantage. They scored the winning goal in extra time (2:1).

A serious problem for the Spanish side in the upcoming match will be the suspension of two key defenders: Le Normand and Carvajal will miss the game. Of course, there are replacements, but Spain will be forced to retreat to avoid giving their opponents' fast counterattack to develop.

France, on the other hand, have not scored in 5 games at Euro 2024: they have Mbappé's penalty and 2 own goals from their opponents. Against Portugal in the quarter-finals (the game won on penalty shootout), France created only 0.92 xG from 20 shots in 120 minutes and didn't have a single dangerous attempt on goal. It is likely that Mbappé will again feel discomfort due to the protective mask in the semi-finals - it limits the functionality of the French captain.

Both Spain and France have reached the Euro 2024 semi-finals unbeaten, with Furia Roja’s powerful attack making them slight favorites. On the other hand, France, unlike their opponents, have no injured players, and their strong bench could turn the game around.

The star-studded semi-final will be played in a closed style, as both teams fear each other. Spain and France will score a maximum of 2 goals within 90 minutes.
